Free Ginseng Production Workshop, Boone

Thursday, Dec 12, 2013 5:00pm – 8:30pm — 7 months ago

Where: Agriculture Conference Center, 252 Poplar Grove Road, Boone, NC 28607 (Map)

Of all the medicinal herbs that can be grown in Western NC, simulated-wild ginseng (i.e.- that which is grown in a natural forest system) has the most consistent demand and highest price. On Thursday, December 12, from 5-8:30 PM, Watauga County Cooperative Extension will host some of the region's top ginseng experts in a workshop designed to give forest landowners the tools and resources they need to get started in or expand their ginseng production.

The first 25 participants who sign up will receive a 'starter kit' of ginseng rootlets and seed to plant in woodlands of their own. And everyone attending will hear from speakers who have worked in the ginseng trade for decades.
