Participants will need to have a medical clearance before attending. This can be completed online at one of the following websites: www.resptest.com (scroll down to single clearance), www.respexam.com or www.respclearance.com. If a physician is required or you prefer to see a
physician, Ashe Medical Associates will be able to complete the medical compliance. Please fill out the OSHA questionnaire and take with you along with the medical clearance form for the doctor to fill out. Bring a copy of the medical clearance with you. These documents can be found at ashe.ces.ncsu.edu/respfit/
Only those spraying chemicals that require a respirator (i.e. Dimethoate
and Gramoxone) will require a fit test. This year it includes those who will be doing the mixing and anyone spraying by mistblower. Farm owners are not exempt.
Do not buy respirators before being respirator fit tested. The
AgroMedicine Institute has worked with Grainger so farms can
receive their discount on personal protective equipment.
Please call the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Ashe County Center at (336) 846-5850 to schedule a time to be fitted.
