Watauga Cooperative Extension Service will offer an apple grafting workshop on March 26 from 5:30-7:30 pm. At this workshop you will learn the uses and techniques for grafting fruit trees. You will then get an opportunity to take home 2 apple trees that you graft on your own. The class will be taught by Bill Hoffman from Avery County Extension Service.
Please fill out this form to register. Fee for the class is $10, to be paid at the beginning of class with cash or a check made out to Watauga County. We're sorry that we can't process a credit card for this class. Participation is limited to 12 participants.
Many varieties of heirloom apple scion wood will be available to graft with but you are welcome to bring your own wood if there is a tree that you are wanting to use for grafting. See this attached information on gathering scion wood COLLECTING-AND-STORING-SCION-WOOD-1.
