The Extension Master Food Volunteer program, modeled after the Extension Master Gardener Volunteer program, is designed to provide volunteers the opportunity to support Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) extension agents with food-related programming. Volunteers will receive a core curriculum of 30 hours of training which includes field trips, and will then shadow/assist the extension agent for 30 hours during their first year.

Food-related volunteer activities may include assisting with cooking classes, conducting food demonstrations in the community, serving on the local food promotion and food security boards, volunteering at donation stations at farmers’ markets, volunteering at the High Country food hub, teaching nutrition/gardening lessons at childcare centers, and others.

Location: American Legion in Blowing Rock

Training Dates: Every Tuesday from 10am to 3 pm

Charge covers cooking demonstrations, educational materials, administration fees to NC State Extension and field trips: $90
