Fall Professional Landscape Day
Thursday, Oct 13th, 2022
8:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m.
Location: Blowing Rock Conference Center, located at 1818 Goforth Rd in Blowing Rock.
Don’t wait until next spring when you are busy, to earn your
recertification hours for the 2022-23 cycle ending July 31st, 2023.
Earn:
* 7 required NC Landscape Contractors Credits including the 2 business
credits
* 3 Pesticide Applicators Credits in the L,N,D,X categories (1 in H, Right-of-way)
* 1 ISA Arborist Credit
* Business classes in the morning, first class will begin at 8:30 am.
* Pesticide classes that also count as Landscape Contractors technical
classes will be in the afternoon concluding by 5:00.
* $20 per person, includes lunch. To be paid at door but please
register so we can plan lunch numbers. Cash or check made payable to Watauga County. If you just need pesticide credits, we will allow you to attend after lunch for free.
There will be door prizes, including a $250 Gift Certificate for landscape supplies.

- 8:00-8:30 a.m.: Visit with vendors and Registration ($20 cash or check made payable to Watauga County; includes lunch)
- 8:30-9:30 a.m.: Marketing the Hardscape to Increase Profits, with presenter Sean Parsons, Techo-Bloc Corp. (1 Business credit)
- 9:35-10:35 a.m.: Getting Water into Backyards – Selling and Installing Water Features, with Sean Bell, Atlantic-Oase Water products (1 Contractor’s License credit)
- 10:35-10:45 a.m.: Break
- 10:45-11:45 a.m.: Labor Assistance Programs Through NC Works, with Tim Dollyhite, NC Works and Elizabeth Saucedo, NC Dept. of Commerce (1 Business credit)
- 11:45-12:30 p.m.: Lunch and visit with vendors
- 12:30-1:30 p.m.: Controlling Invasive Plants in the Dormant Season, with Eddy Labus, Watauga Extension (1Contractor’s License credit and 1 LNDHX pesticide credit)
- 1:35-2:35 p.m.: Cultural, Insect, and Disease Issues of Native and Planted Rhododendron, with Jerry Moody, Avery County Extension (1Contractor’s License credit and 1 LNDX pesticide credit)
- 2:35-2:55 p.m.: Break
- 2:55-3:55 p.m.: Late Season Insects in Turf, with Dr. Terri Billeisen, NC State University Turf Specialist (1 Contractor’s License credit and 1 LNDX pesticide credit)
- 4:00-5:00 p.m.: Tree Establishment in the Landscape, with Rob Reynolds, Green Valley Arborist (1 ISA Cert. hour and 1 Contractor’s License credit)

NCDA&CS has a new system, it no longer tells you when it expires only when
you got your license, so a Turf and Ornamental (L) license is good for 5
years and you must earn 10 credits
